I was born in New York City and raised in Central Florida. My parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba before meeting each other in Miami, Florida. My two older brothers and I are proud to be first-generation Americans. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hodges University in Naples, Florida and my Juris Doctorate degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington.
I have provided a wide range of legal services to my clients since 2012, including federal tax assistance, criminal defense, estate planning, and family law. My experience includes providing Indian law expertise and tribal jurisdiction analysis for federal clients including the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
I began my legal career as a legal researcher for Kauffman & Associates, Inc. in Spokane, Washington. Thereafter, I opened my own law practice dedicated to family law and criminal defense prior to becoming a Tri-Cities Attorney.
I moved to Yakima, Washington in 2017 when I fell in love with a Yakima native. I have the honor and privilege of being a member of our blended family. My personal experience, as a child in a single-parent household and as an adult in a blended family, allows me to provide more than just legal expertise to my clients. Clients at Varela Legal, PLLC are more than customers, they are part of our family.
I am licensed to practice law in Washington State. I am a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
